Hoedspruit is in a low-risk malaria area. Risk is highest November-April. Consult your doctor about prophylaxis. Use insect repellent and wear long sleeves/pants at dawn and dusk.

Vaccinations

No mandatory vaccinations for South Africa. Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and Typhoid recommended. Yellow fever certificate required if traveling from endemic countries. Consult your travel clinic 6-8 weeks before departure.

Comprehensive travel insurance strongly recommended covering medical evacuation, trip cancellation, and personal belongings. Nearest hospital is in Hoedspruit (20 mins).

Pro Tips

  • • Wear neutral colors (khaki, green, brown) on safari - avoid bright colors and white
